Chicken Bowls @ Yoshinoya

Tender, golden-brown slices of chicken topped with our exclusive teriyaki sauce and a variety of vegetables and smothered over a bed of plump, steaming white rice.

yoshinoya and i have a very nice relationship. we saw eachother a lot a couple christmas breaks ago when i was stuck in the dorms. yoshinoya was there to comfort me 24/7.

if you're cool like me, you say: two spicy chickens, no veggies, extra extra extra sauce all over. bitch.

Hawaiian BBQ Chicken @ Papa Johns

Our Hawaiian Barbeque Chicken pizza is made from grilled all-white meat chicken, hickory smoked bacon, fresh-sliced onion, authentic barbeque sauce and pineapple.

this is officially my favorite pizza from my favorite pizza place. definitely best when its fresh, so the crust is still soft and perfect for dipping in their signature garlic sauce. (a note to amateurs: shake the god damn garlic sauce before you open it!!!

Hot Dogs & Pizza @ Costco

usually towards the end of the month, my impulsive spending habits start kickin' me in the ass and i have to live off loose change for a few days. good thing costco has some cheap food at their little snackbar. (no need for membership either!!)

a fat slice of pizza is $2, a quarter pound hot dog is $1.50 and comes with a free drink.

not the greatest of meals but hey, large portions for cheap.

Chicken Katsu, Spam Burger @ L&Ls Hawaiian BBQ

Spam & Egg Sandwich:

Two thick slices of spam, a fried egg, served on a warm hamburger bun.$2.50

sometimes its referred to as the spam burger. if you want lettuce, tomato and onions just say "everything on it." i'm not sure if they have this at all L&Ls but i know they have it at the one in walnut.

Chicken Katsu:

Voted the best in Hawaii! Three pieces of boneless chicken coated with special seasoning and deep fried. Served with our special L&L chicken katsu sauce. $4.25

as small as the packaging is, this thing always fills me up. also, i love their mac salad.

The ZBQ @ zpizza

BBQ chicken, mozzarella, roasted red peppers, red onions, tomatoes, fresh cilantro, sweet corn, BBQ sauce

sometimes before i hit up huntington/newport beach, i make a pit stop @ zpizza in long beach. it seems like a small hole-in-the-wall but its actually a franchise, mostly in california. they have a BUTT LOAD of different flavors to try.

i dunno exactly what kinda style the pizza is but the crust is on the thin side and the flavors are hella good.

kinda forgot the after pic.

oh smilie

i give this pizza joint a 3.5.

Mochiko House Special @ Shakas

An island favorite that has been served for many generations. Always found at your auntie's sunday picnic. Marinated in sweet hawaiian batter then deep fried to lock in the flavor.

i f'ing love this dish. i have to get this dish every weekend when i go home or else i go thru withdrawal.

this is served with rice, teriyaki sauce, a scoop of mac salad and sukemono (pickled cabbage). the sukemono is one of the very few greens that i actually like to eat and the mac salad is the best around.

if you're cool like me, you say "mochiko, extra mac and extra sauce."

wink smilie

notice all three cups of teriyaki sauce.

chill smilie

overall, i give this meal...a 5!!!
