How I Spent My Year 2005

if there's one blog post / survey that i look forward to doing, its this one. this is my third year doing it, which i guess it officially a new years tradition for me.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

fuck yeah i did!!! this is what i put last year:

this year my resolution is to STOP EATING OFF THE FLOOR. maybe that'll help me from getting sick all the fucking time. so yeah, that means no more 20 second rule...and no more eating off the table, especially @ public restaurants.

i used to get sick almost every 4-5 weeks, no fucking joke. Alan and James can even vouch for me because everytime they came down from vegas i was always sick.

but since i quit eating off the floor, i got sick only THREE TIMES this WHOLE YEAR.

OMG
somethin' to tell your kids.

i guess my new years resolution is to have a real job by this time next year. we'll see how that goes, haha.

38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2005.

i learned the value of school when i got back into Cal Poly. its like one of those things you take for granted until you have it taken away from you. kinda like how you take your thumb for granted, until you get a big ass paper cut and find yourself completely inadequate.

i can't remember which book i read this in but basically it said to look at your hardships not as a period of darkness, but as an opportunity to grow & learn. this quote by Nelson Mandela (as heard from Coach Carter)

Our biggest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our biggest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? You are a Child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't be insecure around you. We were born to make magnificent the glory of God that is within us.It's not just in some of us, it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give others permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fears, our presence automatically liberates others.
